Carmen McZeal, Clinical Director

Psychotherapist/Mental Performance Coach

About me...

Carmen was born and raised in south Louisiana before moving to Texas in 2001.  She began her career as a teacher before returning to school to complete her graduate degree in Counseling & Psychology in 2005. As a therapist, she gained tremendous experience in Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and state agencies.

Carmen later became a certified mediator and has spent many years handling conflict resolution cases within the Harris County court system. Her advanced skills in counseling and conflict resolution paved a way for Carmen to open and sustain her private practice and consulting business for nearly 20 years. She has also shared her expertise as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional and has served as a guest speaker, consultant, lecturer and panelists for local state agencies, athletic programs, school districts, club organizations, NAACP conferences, and PHPs.

Over the years she has worked with countless athletes to improve their mental strength.  Through her extensive knowledge in EMDR; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Thought Management; and relaxation techniques, Carmen has aided and mentored swimmers of the USA swim clubs; athletes of both high school football and AAU Track & Field clubs in strengthening their mental framework to mitigate depression, negative emotional responses, mental blocks, and maladaptive behaviors.

As the mother of two All-American athletes, one of which is currently ranked #1 in the nation for discus, Carmen understands the unique circumstances athletes face daily.  Athletics, and the athletes who perform at an elite level, do so at the expense of their physical and mental bodies.  She is aware of the price and the impact that it can have on their lives and the lives of their families.  It is because of this that Carmen remains steadfast in ensuring that every athlete has the tools they need to prioritize their mental health and EDGE out their competition.
